The 15th KnowComplaints Inspiration.

I know I keep saying we need to NOT believe what we think.

I'm sorry. I understand how insulting that can feel but it's extremely liberating if you give it a chance.

The times when your automatic thoughts or emotions reflect life accurately are "the exception to the rule"!

I'm going to call it like it is and not pull any punches. Our complaining, critical and condemning mind constantly lies to us. Yup! Not white lies but blatant misrepresentations of reality.

It's okay. It's not intentional by any part of you. We don't need to be threatened by it and no one needs to be punished. To condemn it would be hypocritical. We just want to replace it with new habits that focus on the good. We need to reprogram this part of ourselves.

So for now we have to just keep watching and see the drama and untruth of our negativity. We need to be vigilant and suspicious. It sounds exhausting but it's ultimately energizing.

We have to catch our habitual negative thoughts so we know what we need to learn. We have to create habit's of sensibility and clear seeing. We need to rehearse telling ourselves the truth, as much as we've rehearsed lying to ourselves without knowing it.

Here's some of my truth this week:

The kids I saw didn't rob my house, and weren't evil.
The insurance company didn't make a mistake.
My mom doesn't have cancer.
My friend wasn't mad at me when I accidentally stood him up.
I didn't get writers block,
Bella didn't get choke on her Greenie,
The neighbor's dog didn't keep barking forever,
And my friends didn't commit me.

So many things didn't happen it's hard to believe!

These hopeless stories didn't come true, but why are we surprised? It makes sense to expect love, safety and solutions.
Almost everything works almost all of the time. We not only would feel so much better we'd be right! We can wake up to this and stop wasting our time. Life is precious and too short to spend caught in a bad dream, expecting bad things to always happen.

Stop, step back, breathe and watch. Do you see the patterns? Do you see how repetitious, predictable and even absurd our negativity is? Can you see through it yet? It is not the real you.

Point To Ponder: Is it okay to scream obscenities in the car and complain when no one can hear you?

Koan of the week: "How many times a day do you estimate you think something or someone, shouldn't be happening?"

Peace to you,
Bryan
