Greetings,
Looking back at yesterday's inspiration, I realize I talked about the intensive practice of the week, but I didn't speak about the amazing and wonderful things that happened as well. My "bigger picture opinion of the week", was that it was profound and positive.
It was very powerful and I was happy a lot of the time. The way it unfolded while navigating the chaos was full of deep meaningful connections and joyful interactions. A beautiful unfolding occurred and most of my difficult issues were resolved.
As we observe our experience, it's best if we keep a bigger view so we aren't so thrown off course by every situation of the day. You rest in seeing the bigger balance of life. A typical day in our life is about 50/50. Half of it is naturally enjoyable and comfortable, and the other half takes effort and practice to be at peace with.
Last week was full of extremes and most of our lives always are. The trick is not to let the negative extremes keep your attention, and to simultaneously still enjoy all the other nice parts of your life. As we stay trusting in the present, even though we have very real concerns they don't need to inhibit our ability to appreciate and enjoy the beauty at the same time.
If you wait for everything to be finished and resolved before you allow yourself to enjoy life and be happy, you will wait forever and live in frustration. Happiness comes from being happy with what there is to be happy about now, even while things are still crazy.
Isn't is true that life just goes from one form of crazy to another? Life isn't going to change so we need to change our opinion about life, and let it include and accept a certain amount of discomfort and unresolved issues.
We can't throw the baby out with the bathwater when we have a crisis, because there are usually a couple of them happening all of the time. It really is about where we put our focus. We need to continue redirecting our focus toward what there is to be grateful for and learn to spend time with these things. This will create a balanced perspective and a healthy expectation about life that doesn't disappoint you or dismiss what is positive.
So last week was very crazy but it was also one of most amazing weeks I've ever had with all the gifts that came as it unfolded. Staying aware of simple pleasures and recognizing them as I dealt with the chaos, helped me stay pretty happy through even the most challenging situations.
Please spend time relaxing today, and challenge your perspectives of last week. Look at your opinions and see if you can change them to reflect this idea of a balanced view. It's a practice you can apply toward everything. Appreciate the positive things that come to you, and have a trusting and accepting perspective toward the challenges. A good conversation with yourself about these kinds of things is a great practice. ;)
Thank you for being a part of this journey and I wish you a peaceful and content weekend.
Bryan
