Wishing you a thoughtful Tuesday!
One more thing to do today aside from just watch your mind:
Rest. Just rest. Stop for 5 minutes, within the next eight hours. This shouldn't be too difficult right?
Chances are there is a part of you saying you don't have the time or it isn't worth it. But how many times are we going to let that same old story stop us from making little simple changes that will make a significant difference? Try something new?
Take 5 minutes to rest, breathe, watch and see what you find. 5 minutes to relax into the place of the observer. Focus on breathing deeply, and let each breath release your stress. We need to release our driven-ness to settle into our awareness. It's a common source of stress.
Driven-ness ( I didn't make up this word), is actually a negative kind of energy. It's an often uncontrollable urge to produce, create, achieve, accomplish, never stop, take care of others, etc...At the expense of creating balance or a positive change for one's self.
It's the impatient energy of a phenomenon I call "urgency addiction". Its name explains itself. This is a habit we need to release to be more present and aware.
So here is the practice to try. Experiment and see if you can get past your resistance and make this happen. Don't let your discomfort stop you.
Take a five minute rest and play the role of the observer.
Use your breath to just settle in.
Try to feel it and see if it brings you calm.
If you feel impatient, see if you can breathe and slow down.
You can count your breaths if it helps you stay focused.
Take note of the experience,
and then go about your day.
Helpful hint: To stop and go inside is counter intuitive when we are stressed, but it will usually relieve our anxiety instead of create more of it.
With practice you can find a stable peace that's free of the whirlwind of your thoughts and feelings. You the observer and witness, rest in an eye of a hurricane that's connected with your heart. It's where your wisdom can speak to you and you can see through the clouds.
As you appreciate this, please pass on the Invite/Oath.
